Course Description
This course is a year long course which focuses on the different types of documents that workers in the workplace arr always having to create. The students begin the course leaning the advanced properties of Word (columns, eletronic forms, table of contents) then during the second semester they learn about Publisher (brochures, desktop publishing, web design) and other important facts dealing with publications. September & October Assignments
9/1/2009-9/11/2009: Unit 1 Students will complete the Microsoft Word training through the use of the tutorial videos, pre & post-tests, and other handson activities.
9/14/2009-9/25/2009: Unit 2: Students will learn how to create and modify industry apporpriate documents using MS Word 07. Students will learn how to create table of contents, footnote/endnotes, newsletters, web forms, works citted page, mail mege, insert comments, proof-read documents electronically, work with long-documents, edit and insert table, and much more.
9/28/2009-10/2/2009: Unit 2 Continued: Students will learn how to create an industry appropriate brochure. Students will fill in the PowerPoint about Brochures, create a TIPS sheet to help them remeber rules for brochures, they will then create two separate brochures. They will create one about a college/job they are interested in pursuing and then create one about Electronic Rights.
